Contaminated coolant increase the fluid acidity which wears down the aluminum until leaks start to appear. Collision. As a front-end part, radiators are often involved in collisions. Even if the initial impact does not damage the radiator, smaller leaks in the cooling system can be found afterwards which also warrants radiator replacement.
The accepted pressure range for a car's radiator is between 75-100kPa (or 11-15psi) and with a mix of 33% coolant/antifreeze to water the boiling point is raised to 121-125-degrees C. Change the
Years ago I had quite a few brass radiators recored. One was for a 40 Ford which was done perfect and lasted for years. I know the thing now is aluminum radiators but I still have some of the old radiators. Over the weekend a punched 2 holes about 2 inches in Dia in a brass radiator 5 row , I,m accident pron , assumed I could take it in and have
At last, the coolant made for BMW may or may not come pre-diluted. It enables you to dilute the coolant or antifreeze depending upon the environmental conditions. Does BMW need special coolant? Yes, all BMW vehicles need a special coolant or antifreeze. It is because such coolant tends to serve several useful functions in the vehicle. For example,
Only the aluminum radiator/heater core/iron block/aluminum heads. The additional path is provided between the bathed aluminum radiator/brass heater core to the body - does this make any sense? Therefore, #1 you need a coolant with a good inhibitor package. #2, you need to change the coolant when the inhibitor package is used up. I'd use
That is, unless the coolant has special additives to protect aluminum parts from corrosion. Otherwise, the nitrite in the coolant can "eat" the aluminum in your engine. Since more modern engines are using aluminum parts, nitrite is becoming obsolete. 3. Phosphate. Phosphate is a fast-acting acid that protects some metals from corrosion.
Mike explainedhow a 2-row radiator with a 1 inch to 1-1/8 inch cooling tubes were moreefficient than a 3 or 4 row with smaller tubes. Auto City Classic offers aradiator, part # SL-090A-AT-F, with 1 inch to 1-1/8 inch tubes. The outlet is onthe driver's side which allows a cross flow.

Area = 228.05" 2. Now, for comparison, use the formula below to calculate the surface area of your radiator's core. We'll use our 27-inch tall universal radiator with a core height 22.25 inches; and a core width 18.25 inches for this example. Universal Down Flow Aluminum Radiator. Area = (Height) x (Width) Area = (22.25) x (18.25) Area = 406" 2.

It sounds like you could use an anode in the coolant as long as the radiator is somehow grounded somewhere And keep the coolant clean and use non-tap water and 50% coolant at least this sounds like good advice WHEN IT IS NECESSARY TO USE DIFFERENT METALS TOGETHER, CHOOSE THOSE METALS THAT ARE CLOSE TOGETHER IN THE GALVANIC SERIES.

Copper transfers heat better than aluminum. Assuming the radiator design is equal, what you're paying for with aluminum is lighter weight and bling factor.
The old brass types do a better job. Racers use aluminum radiators to save weight, but that would be kind of silly on a 3500-pound street machine. Besides, if your classic-era car is designed for water only, an aluminum radiator will have a short life unless you run coolant as well, and that puts you back to running hot.
By Lambda Geeks Coolant compatibility with radiator material s is an important aspect to consider when it comes to maintaining the health and longevity of your vehicle's cooling system. Different types of coolants can have varying effects on the materials used in radiators, which can ultimately impact their performance.

Any acids that form in the coolant are supposed to attack this zinc before it attacks the copper or aluminum core. That's the theory anyway.
